Guys, these stretching exercises for beginners over 50 that I am about to show you are great, especially before you go for a run or before any cardio. We are not as flexible as we were when we were in our 20’s and 30’s. Tight hips, hamstrings, and lower back are annoying, and that is typically what bothers me. These are exercises I do before I run, and even if you are not running, these are just phenomenal stretches that you can do everyday to feel better. Let’s get started with the 3 stretching exercises for beginners over 50.

Exercise #1: Lay down and have one knee bent. Put your opposite foot on your knee, so the outside of your ankle is resting on your knee. You are then going to push on the inside of your knee gently, and this is really going to stretch your hip flexors. Do this for each side.
Exercise #2: Lay with one leg flat on the ground, and bring the other the leg over so the ankle is crossed over the knee. Focus on trying to pull your knee down to the ground. You are really going to feel this stretch in your glutes, and you feel the tension in your lower back start to release. Again, do this on both sides.
Exercise #3: Rest on one knee, and have your other leg stretched out in front of you. Lean forward and you will feel that stretch in your groin and your hamstring. When you lean forward, you can put your hands on the ground for balance, and that can also help you get a deeper stretch.

Stretching should be slightly painful. If you don’t feel slight pain then you are not getting a good enough stretch. These stretches are really going to help increase your mobility and flexibility. Make sure to try and do these stretching exercises a few times a week, especially if you are experiencing pain and stiffness in your muscles and lower back.
