If you are a man over 40, you can’t build strength in the way that you used to when you were younger. You need to change the way you workout to build strength after 40 without getting injured. If your goal is to build strength then you want to lift in the 6-8 rep range. You will also need to rest longer in between sets, you want to fully recover before you go into the next set. Also, try and have 3 days rest time minimum before working a muscle group again.
