The back is such a large muscle group, and it can take a bit of exercises to make sure you are working all of your back. A lot of back exercises that we do are compound exercises, meaning they work multiple muscle groups at the same time. So, you may feel some of your other muscles being worked as well. However, when you are focusing on building your back, you want to make sure you are working it the most. Using a mind muscle connection is important for having a productive workout, whether at home or in the gym.
A mind muscle connection should make it where you actually feel the burn in your back muscles when doing an exercise. You do not want to feel much of a burn in your arms, chest, or any other muscle groups. Those muscle groups are more just being used to do the exercises. Focus on the specific back muscles you are working for the whole movement, the stretch and the contraction. This is crucial for getting the most out of your back workouts.
Whether at home or in the gym, you can get in a really good back workout. Using gym cable machines, or using dumbbells and resistance bands at home, you can get some great results.
