It is a question that you heat a lot, and that is can you build muscle using light weights? Some may say no, but I am going to show you how to build muscle with light weights. This is important, especially for people that workout at home and don’t have a lot of equipment. Later in this video I am going to give you 4 creative exercises to help you build muscle with light weights.
A technique that will help you build muscle is Time Under Tension. This will make the light weights feel much heavier. Combining time under tension with intensity is the key with this technique to be able to build muscle. Noww, here are the exercises to help you build muscle with light weights.
Exercise #1: DUMBBELL BACK ROW. There are a lot of muscles involved with this exercise, so you typically need heavier weight. Since we are using lighter weights, use a slow and controlled movement then hold the contraction at the top of the movement for a couple of seconds.
Exercise #2: SQUATS. Even doing bodyweight squats, there are ways to make it more intense by adding more time under tension. At the bottom of the movement, hold the squat for a few seconds because that is when you are under the most stress. Eventually, get to the point where you need to add dumbbells, and still use the slow and controlled tempo.
Exercise #3: DUMBBELL CHEST PRESS. Again, the chest needs a heavier weight typically. So when using lighter weights, use slow and controlled movements. At the bottom of the movement, hold the weight for a few seconds before pushing the weight back up.
Exercise #4: DUMBBELL CURLS. For these do slow and controlled movements. If you really want to add some tension, you can hold the movement at the midway point and you will really get a good pump.
