It is very frustrating when you are trying to lose weight, but you are not seeing the results that you want to. You may think you are doing everything right, but there may be some things holding you back from reaching your weight loss goals. That is why I am going to give you the top 3 mistakes men over 40 make when trying to lose weight. Let’s get started!
Mistake #1: THE WAY YOU DO CARDIO. Long cardio sessions are not good for you when trying to lose weight. Once you get past a certain point, you are no longer burning fat. Your body will transition over and start using muscle as a source of energy. You want to do cardio more like a sprinter than a long distance runner. Especially if you are trying to lose weight/fat and build muscle. Do high intensity cardio, short sprints whether running or on a bike. Sprints are great for losing fat and helping you increase testosterone levels.
Mistake #2: NOT LIFTING WEIGHTS. When you are building muscle, you are increasing your metabolic rate. The more muscle you put on, the more calories you will burn while you are at rest. When you do resistance training, your body will also produce more testosterone. The more testosterone you have, the more muscle you will build, so they work together.
Mistake #3:HAVING A POOR DIET. I don’t want you to go on a “diet”. You need to follow a nutrition plan to help you on your weight loss journey. Diets typically have a beginning and an end, and you don’t want that. Going on an extreme low calorie or low carb diet will negatively affect your metabolism, and cause more harm than good to your hormone levels.
All 3 of these mistakes come back to one thing being affected, and that is your TESTOSTERONE LEVELS. These mistakes lower your t-levels, and don’t help you produce more testosterone that you need to lose weight and build muscle.
